Lakers Sweep Ashland, 3-0

#12 Grand Valley State improved to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC as they swept Ashland University 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-27) on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers will host three GLIAC volleyball matches next weekend.

The Lakers came out strong again, hitting .395 to win game one, 30-23. GVSU won game two, 30-25 and closed out the sweep with a 30-27 game three win.

Grand Valley hit .286 as a team, while Ashland posted a .088 hitting percentage. The Lakers tallied 12 total team blocks.

Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk tallied a match-high 13 kills and added five digs and six assisted blocks. Senior outside hitter Tina Tromblay added seven kills, four digs, a solo and two assisted blocks, while sophomore middle blocker Erica Vandekopple added six kills, a .600 hitting percentage, and five assisted blocks. Redshirt freshman Jamie Ashmore posted 24 assists and six digs, while freshman Megan Walling added 16 assists. Sophomore Alyson Riley led the team with 25 digs.
