GVSU Defeats Northwood, 3-0

#13 Grand Valley State picked up it second straight GLIAC sweep, defeating Northwood University, 3-0 (30-18, 30-27, 30-19). GVSU improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the GLIAC.

The Lakers outhit the Timberwolves .303 to -.065 to take the first game, 30-18. Both teams struggled hitting in game two, but GVSU came out with the 30-27 win. Grand Valley closed out the match hitting .435 in game three, picking up the 30-19 win.

GVSU hit .266 as a team, while Northwood managed just a .011 team attack percentage. The Lakers posted 15 service aces to the Timberwolves three and tallied 14 team blocks, while Northwood didn't record a block.

Senior Tracy Kirk posted nine kills, two aces, four assisted and one solo block, while hitting .375. Junior Meghan Moore also tallied nine kills and had a seson-high nine assisted and one solo block as she hit .353. Senior Tina Tromblay recorded seven kills, three aces, six digs, and five assisted blocks.

Grand Valley State will return home to host two GLIAC matches next weekend. The Lakers will face Findlay on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Ashland on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4:00 p.m.
