Grand Valley State ended the Ashland Invitational with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-19) sweep over Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 8-3 overall. GVSU will open GLIAC play on the road this weekend, competing at Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Sept. 16 and at Nortwood on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Senior Tina Tromblay led the Lakers, recording 16 kills, a .519 attack percentage, two aces, nine digs, and four solo blocks. Tromblay ended the weekend hitting .518, while averaging 3.67 kills, 1.67 digs, and 1.00 blocks. Junior outside hitter Megan Helsen hit .412, nine digs, and 12 digs, while senior middle blocker Lauren Hanson added seven kills, a .412 attack percentage, two digs, and three solo and one assisted blocks.

The Lakers hit .435 as a team, while recording 22 total blocks.
