GVSU Claims 86-67 GLIAC Win At Saginaw Valley State

University Center, Mich. - Grand Valley State claimed an impressive 86-67 GLIAC victory Thursday night in University Center, Mich. over Saginaw Valley State. Grand Valley State (4-1, 1-0) will host Northwood Saturday at 8 p.m.

Grand Valley State saw its 10 point halftime lead (46-36) cut down to five (49-44) early in the second half, but a Callistus Eziukwu layup and four straight points by freshman forward Pete Trammell boosted the Laker lead back to 11 points (55-44). The Lakers led by double digits for the final 11:23 when Kyle Carhart hit a layup to put GVSU up 63-52.

Sophomore Callistus Eziukwu led GVSU with a season-high 26 points, while senior guard Courtney James added 16 points and seven assists. Freshman Pete Trammell chipped in 11 points and six rebounds. L.J. Kilgore scored five points, dished out five assists and recorded four steals and senior forward Nate Bassett tallied nine points and four rebounds. GVSU shot a 56.6 percent from the floor (30-53) and forced SVSU into 24 turnovers.
