Grand Valley State concluded its three match stint in the Upper Peninsula with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-17) sweep at Lake Superior State Sunday afternoon. GVSU improved to 23-5 overall and 15-2 in GLIAC action. The Lakers will conclude regular season play at West Michigan rival Ferris State on Friday, Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
Grand Valley came put strong as they hit .462 as a team, taking game one, 30-18. GVSU continued to be hot, hitting .389 in a 30-15 game two win and .472 in a 30-17 win in game three.
The Lakers hit .441 as a team in the match, while Lake Superior State hit just .065. Grand Valley tallied six service aces and nine blocks as a team as well.
Leading the way for GVSU, was junior middle blocker Meghan Moore who recorded 13 kills, a .591 attack percentage, one solo and three assisted blocks. Junior outside hitter Megan Helsen posted 13 kills, two aces, seven digs, and two assisted blocks, while hitting .545.
Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk tallied 10 kills, a .625 hitting percentage, three assists, and three assisted blocks. Redshirt freshman setter Jamie Ashmore tallied 22 assists and five digs, while freshman Kelly Hogan added 17 assists and nine digs. Sophomore libero Alyson Riley recorded 14 digs, while senior outside hitter Tina Tromblay added 13 digs, six kills, and two assisted blocks.
