Grand Valley State recorded its third sweep in three days as they picked up a 3-0 (30-13, 30-19, 30-26) win over Lake Superior State. GVSU improves to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the GLIAC. The Lakers will travel to Erie, Penn. to play Gannon on Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Mercyhurst on Oct. 8 at 2:00 p.m.
Grand Valley dominated game one, hitting .410 en route to a 30-13 win. GVSU came back and hit .300 in game two to seal the 30-19 win and closed out the match with a 30-26 victory in game three.
GVSU hit .267 as a team in the match, while LSSU hit just .032. Grand Valley tallied 13 service aces and 10 blocks, to Lake Superior State's four aces and four blocks.
Junior middle blocker Meghan Moore led GVSU with a match-high 14 kills, a .591 hitting percentage, and four assisted blocks, while senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk added 11 kills and one solo and three assisted blocks. Junior outside hitter Megan Helsen recorded six kills and eight digs and sophomore middle blocker Erica Vandekopple posted six kiils and three assisted blocks.
Redshirt freshman Jamie Ashmore recorded 26 assists and sophomore Alyson Riley added 24 digs for GVSU.
