Lakers Defeat Lewis 85-64

Junior forward Niki Reams tallied a game-high 22 points, nine rebounds, and six assists to help the Lakers cruise to a 85-64 win in a non-conference game against Lewis University. GVSU improves to 8-4 overall and will travel to Findlay on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 5:30 for a GLIAC contest.

Grand Valley State took a 34-17 halftime lead and continued its hot shooting going 17-for-29 (58.6%) from the field in the second half. Sophomore guard Taushauna Churchwell posted 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals, while senior guard Janine Guastella added 13 points, three assists, and two steals. Reams connected on 4-for-6 from behind the three-point arc. Sophomore forward Julia Braseth recorded eight points and four rebounds and freshman Courtney Hammond scored seven for the Lakers.

Grand Valley State will return home on Saturday, Jan. 8 as they host rival Ferris State in a GLIAC contest.
