Junior Jerry Wallace scored a career-high 18 points, all on three-pointers, to lead Grand Valley State to a 109-54 victory Monday night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. GVSU broke the 100-point mark in regulation for the first time since 1/13/03 vs. UM-Dearborn.
Grand Valley State led by double digits at the 15:28 mark of the first half and never looked back. The Lakers led by 30 (57-27) at the half and built its largest lead (54) when Jerry Wallace hit the last of his six three-pointers. GVSU drilled 14 three-pointers, the second-best single-game total in GVSU annals, and dished out 31 assists. The Lakers shot 60.6 from the floor (43-71) and 58.3 percent from the three-point line (14-24). Grand Valley State outrebounded the Tigers 58-20.
Jerry Wallace led six Lakers in double figures with a career-high 18 points and his six three-pointers made was also a career-high. Freshman Callistus Eziukwu notched his seventh double-double of the year with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Eziukwu's four blocked shots also gave him 71 this season to break the previous record of 68 by Ron Polus in 1981-82. Freshman Jason Jamerson tallied 12 points, while Marcus Wallace, Brian Arnold and Courtney James all scored 10 points apiece. The Laker bench provided 61 points in the game. Freshman guard Tom Fellows also notched a career-high nine points.
Grand Valley State (12-4, 5-2) will hit the road with a GLIAC tilt at Mercyhurst Thursday (8 p.m.).
