GVSU Records 80-59 Win Over Hillsdale

Grand Valley State junior forward Niki Reams recorded her fifth double-double of the year with 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lakers to an 80-59 victory over 13th-ranked Hillsdale. GVSU improves to 12-4 overall and 6-1 in league action.

GVSU built a 22-20 lead into a 38-27 haltime margin with a 16-7 run in the final 9:23 of the first half. Hillsdale pulled to within eight (42-34) four minutes into the second half, but GVSU went on a 12-4 run to up its lead to 54-38 with 12:29 left. GVSU built its largest lead (78-56) with a minute left on a Dawn Maynard free throw.

Niki Reams led GVSU with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Julia Braseth added 20 points, 14 in the second half, and seven boards. Erika Ryskamp added 17 points, while Crystal Zick chipped in nine in the scoring column. GVSU held a 30-24 rebounding advantage and forced Hillsdale into 24 turnovers. GVSU shot a season-best 62.5 percent for the game, including 65 percent (13-20) in the first half.
