Grand Valley State remains undefeated in the GLIAC with a 3-2 (30-28, 22-30, 30-26, 27-30, 15-8) win over Northern Michigan. The Lakers are 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the GLIAC. Grand Valley will conclude its trip up north on Sunday against Michigan Tech at 2:00 p.m.
GVSU tallied a 30-28 win in game one as they hit .324. Northern Michigan tied the match win a 30-22 win in game two. The Lakers won game three, 30-26 and NMU tied the match again with a 30-27 gane four win. Grand Valley hit an outstanding .667 in its 15-8 game five victory.
The Lakers hit .314 in the match and tallied 24 assisted blocks. Leading the way for Grand Valley, was junior Tracy Kirk who posted a .528 attack percentage. Kirk had 21 kills and eight assisted blocks. Senior Stephanie Maciasz recorded a match-high 22 kills, a .417 attack percentage, and six digs. Senior Leah Kunz tallied 34 assists and junior Michele Ehrlich had 31. Sophomore Alyson Riley posted a team-high 22 digs, while junior Tina Tromblay added 19 and sophomore Megan Helsen had 13 digs.
