GVSU Sweeps Lake Superior State, 3-0

Grand Valley State swept Lake Superior State, 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-24) Friday night in its first of three GLIAC road matches. The Lakers improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in GLIAC action.

GVSU hit .359 in game one, picking up a 30-24 win. Grand Valley won game two, 30-25, and sealed the sweep by winning game three, 30-24. GVSU hit .236 on the night, while Lake Superior recorded a .118 attack percentage. Grand Valley also tallied eight assisted and two solo blocks, while adding eight service aces.

Sopohomore Megan Helsen recorded a .389 attack percentage, with eight kills, two aces and eight digs for the Lakers. Junior Tracy Kirk posted nine kills, three aces and five blocks, while junior Tina Tromblay added nine kills, four digs, and two blocks. Sophomore Alyson Riley tallied a team-high 18 digs, while senior Leah Kunz recorded 18 assists and junior Michele Ehrlich added 15.

The Lakers have not lost a game in five matches and have won seven straight matches. GVSU has also won 17 consecutive games. Grand Valley will play at Northern Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 4:00 p.m. and at Michigan Tech on Sunday, Oct.26 at 2:00 p.m.
