Lakers Defeat Regional Opponent Indianapolis, 4-0

Grand Valley State defeated Great Lakes Regional opponent Indianapolis, 4-0, Wednesday. The Lakers improve to 5-2 overall and will play at Aquinas College on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 4:00 p.m. before returning home to host West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 p.m. and Charleston on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1:00 p.m.

The Lakers took a 1-0 halftime lead as junior forward Jenny Swalec tallied her second goal of the season at the 30:42 mark. GVSU added three more goals in the second half to record the 4-0 win.

Sophomore midfielder Shannon Carrier posted her third goal of the season on a junior forward Jaci Lange assist to give GVSU a 2-0 lead. Lange added a goal of her own at 62:15 and senior midfielder April Raynovich scored the final Laker goal at 78:07.

Sophomore Erin Murphy recorded her third shutout of the season, playing 78:24 minutes, while freshman Alex Casper played the final 11:36.

The Lakers outshot the Greyhounds, 19-5 and tallied 12 shots on goal, while holding Indianapolis to none.
