Grand Valley State defeated Wheeling Jesuit, 3-2 (30-32, 30-22, 27-30, 30-10, 17-15) in its first match of the GLIAC vs. GLVC Crossover held in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Lakers improve to 6-3 overall and will play Indianapolis at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The Lakers tallied a .273 attack percentage, while Wheeling Jesuit hit just .093 on the night. Leading the way for the Lakers, was junior Tracy Kirk, who hit .457 with 16 kills, four assisted blocks, and three solo blocks. Sophomore Megan Helsen added 16 kills, a team-high 22 digs, and four assisted blocks. Senior Stephanie Maciasz posted 12 kills and three assisted blocks, while junior Lauren Hanson tallied 11 kills and eight assisted and two solo blocks. Junior Tina Tromblay recorded 11 kills and 20 digs.

Grand Valley recorded 19 total blocks, while Wheeling Jesuit had just four.
