Lakers Split with Lewis University Saturday

Grand Valley State split a doubleheader at Lewis University Saturday. The Lakers dropped game one, 3-2, but came back to win game two, 2-1. GVSU is now 13-2 overall.

Senior pitcher Jennifer Mackson recorded her first loss of the season, falling to 7-1. Jennifer allowed seven hits and one earned run, while striking out seven.

GVSU only tallied four hits on the offensive side of the ball. Senior 2B Jen Goldschmeding went 2-for-3 with her first homerun of the season, while junior SS Sarah Paape hit her third homerun of the season for the Lakers.

In game two, Kristin Jenner pitched 6.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one unearned run. Mackson came in to close the game and picked up her first save of the year.

Six Lakers talllied a hit in game two and they were led by Stacie DelChiaro who hit her second homerun of the season.

Grand Valley will travel to Wheeling, West Virginia for five games this coming weekend.
