GVSU Falls at Northern Michigan, 48-45

Grand Valley State fell, 48-45, in a low scoring GLIAC match up with Northern Michigan Thursday. The Lakers have lost eight of their last nine games. GVSU drops to 11-9 overall and 3-8 in the GLIAC.

GVSU took a 31-29 halftime lead on 48.1% shooting from the field. The Lakers led throughout most of the second half until Northern Michigan tied the game at 45-45 at the 3:40 mark. The Wildcats scored the game's final three points to pick up the win.

NMU held GVSU to just 14 points on 28.6% shooting in the second half. Grand Valley only turned the ball over 11 times, but only connected on 3-for-17 from behind the three-point arc.

Freshman forward Mike Hall led the way for the Lakers with 14 points, while junior guard Marcus Wallace was the only Lakers to score in double-figures with 11 points. Freshman guard Brian Arnold tallied five points, a team-high six rebounds, and five assists.

The Lakers will continue their road trip up north as they play at Michigan Tech on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. and at Lake Superior State on Monday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
