Grand Valley State ran into a hot shooting Michigan Tech squad Thursday night (Feb. 26) at the Fieldhouse Arena and dropped a 71-57 decision. GVSU (11-14, 8-9) will host Northern Michigan Saturday (Feb. 28) in the regular season finale.
GVSU and MTU exchanged several lead changes in the opening 20 minutes and the Huskies went into the lockerroom with a 35-34 advantage. GVSU had a five-point possession to take a 41-37 lead, but MTU went on a 14-0 run over the next five minutes to take a 51-41 lead with 11:48 left. GVSU cut into the MTU lead and trailed 54-52 with 7:45 left after a Dawn Maynard three-pointer. Maria Schneider and Andrea Novak hit back-to-back three-pointers to built the Husky lead back to eight (62-54).
Freshman forward Megan Razavi scored a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor and 4-of-7 from three-point land. Julie Zeeff added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Cori Jewett added eight points. GVSU held a 29-21 rebounding advantage, but the Lakers turned the ball over 18 times.
