Grand Valley State dropped a 72-66 decision to archrival Ferris State Monday night. The Lakers fall to 10-13 overall and 7-8 in GLIAC play.
The Lakers fought back from a 26-8 deficit to trail by 10 (33-23) at the half. GVSU cut the lead to one (37-36) on a three-point play by senior center Julie Zeeff at the 13:07 mark, but the Bulldogs took a five point lead with under a minute to go to seal the win.
GVSU shot 50% in the second half, while holding FSU to just 34.4% from the field. However, Ferris State cause GVSU to turn the ball over 25 times. Grand Valley was just 2-for-14 from behind the three-point line.
Julie Zeeff led the Lakers with a team-high 31 points, 18 rebounds, and five blocks. Jessica Hart added 11 points and eight rebounds, while Janine Guastella chipped in 11 points. Taushauna Churchwell tallied a team-high seven assists and six rebounds.
Grand Valley will travel to Northwood on Thursday, Feb. 19 for a GLIAC contest at 5:30 p.m.
