Grand Valley State Claims 76-58 Win At Lake Superior State

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Grand Valley State freshman center Callistus Eziukwu tallied his third double-double of the year with 19 points and 10 rebounds as GVSU claimed a 76-58 win at Lake Superior State. GVSU improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in league action with its fifth straight win.

Grand Valley State built a 37-29 halftime lead into a 48-29 lead with an 11-0 run to start the second half. Sophomore Brian Arnold opened the second half with a three-pointer and the Lakers never looked back. GVSU built its largest lead of the game (69-48) with a pair of Mike Hall free throws at the 4:12 mark.

Callistus Eziukwu hit 8-of-10 shots en route to 19 points. Eziukwu notched 10 rebounds and blocked three shots in 25 minutes of action. Freshman Jason Jamerson hit three three-pointers en route to 16 points, while Mike Hall and Marcus Wallace added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Wallace pulled down six rebounds and led GVSU with five assists.

GVSU hit 58.8 percent of its shots (30-51) from the floor and outrebounded LSSU 34-31. Grand Valley State limited Lake Superior to just 58 points and 39.3 percent shooting from the floor. GVSU has not allowed more than 65 points in a game this season.
