Grand Valley State improved to 3-2 overall with a 100-19 win over Marygrove College on Saturday night. GVSU will begin GLIAC action on Thursday, Dec. 2 at home against Ashland at 6:00 p.m.
The Lakers tallied a 49-12 lead at the half, shooting 51.2% from the field. GVSU continued its hot shooting in the second half (54.3%) and outscoring the Mustangs, 51-7. GVSU forced 38 Marygrove turnovers, while committing just 13.
Leading the way for the Lakers was freshman guard Courtney Hammond who posted 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore Megan Razavi added 13 points, while junior Niki Reams posted 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Sophomore Julia Braseth recorded eight points and seven rebounds and sophomore Taushauna Churchwell had eight points, six rebounds, four steals, and five assists. Freshman Rachael Willett tallied eight points and four rebounds.
