Lakers Remain Undefeated in GLIAC With 3-1 Win Over Hillsdale

#10 Grand Valley State won its 15th straight match in a 3-1 (29-31, 30-20, 30-23, 30-15) victory over #25 Hillsdale before a single-season record crowd of 461 to remain undefeated in GLIAC action. The Lakers are 19-3 overall and 11-0 in GLIAC play.

The Chargers tallied a 31-29 game one win behind a .316 attack percentage. The Lakers came back, however, and won the next three matches easily. GVSU recorded a .341 attack percentage on the match, while Hillsdale hit just .127.

Leading the attack for the Lakers was sophomore Megan Helsen who posted a match-high 19 kills, a .415 hitting percentage, three aces, 13 digs, and two assisted blocks. Junior Lauren Hanson recorded 17 kills, a .552 attack percentage, and four assisted blocks. Junior Tina Tromblay tallied 16 kills, a .394 attack percentage, 12 digs, and three assisted blocks. Senior Stephanie Maciasz-Dow added 11 kills, a .357 attack percentage, and three assisted blocks, while junior Tracy Kirk posted 11 kills, two aces, and five assisted blocks. Senior Leah Kunz led the Lakers with 54 assists and added three aces and six digs. Redshirt freshman Alyson Riley recorded a match-high 22 digs.

Grand Valley has won 46 out of its last 52 games. The Lakers will host Wayne State on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
