Lakers Defeat Findlay in Close Contest

#18 Grand Valley State defeated Findlay, 3-2, in a close contest Saturday. GVSU is now 2-0 in the GLIAC and 10-4 overall.

The Lakers won game one 30-25, after tallying a .390 attack percentage, but fell, 18-30, in game two. Grand Valley took game three 30-24, but Findlay came back to tie the match by winning gane four, 30-27. GVSU put the match away with a 15-5 win in game five. The Lakers recorded a .636 attack percentage in game five.

Grand Valley was led by Stephanie Maciasz who recorded a game-high 26 kills and a .417 attack percentage. Sabrina Bird added 11 kills, six service aces, and nine assisted blocks. Nicole Bayle led the Lakers with 49 assists and five blocks, while Leah Kunz added 12. Melissa Reneski tallied a team-high 11 digs and three blocks.

The Lakers will host three games next weekend. GVSU will play Lake Superior State on Friday at 7:00 p.m., Michigan Tech on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and Northern Michigan on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
