LSSU Slips By Grand Valley 5-4

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley lost another close match in the U.P. as they fell 5-4 to Lake Superior State on Sunday. Desmond Early earned a straight set win at #1 singles, and GVSU also picked up wins at five and six singles. However, the Lakers could only manage one doubles win, as they lost in the tiebreaker at #1 singles. GVSU falls to 4-13 on the season and 1-6 in GLIAC play.

Early and Matt Young lost at #1 doubles 9-8 (7), but Pete Schwallier and Kyle Dehne earned an 8-5 win at #2 doubles. Early took two close games at #1 singles to win in striaght sets 7-5, 7-6 (5). Young and Nick Cron earned the final wins for GVSU at #5 and #6, respectively.

The Lakers will finish regular season action with a contest at Northwood on Tuesday before heading to the GLIAC Championships this weekend, which will also be in Midland, Mich.
