Grand Valley State used hot shooting to pick up a 94-84 win over the Ashland Eagles in its GLIAC season opener. The Lakers are now 6-1 overall and 1-0 in GLIAC play. GVSU will host Lake Superior State on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3:00 p.m.

The Lakers shot an outstanding 67.3% from the field in the win. GVSU also connected on 8-of-11 from behind the three-point arc.

Grand Valley was led by sophomore guard Courtney James who tallied 20 points and 12 assists, while freshman forward Mike Hall added 19 points. Junior forward Marcus Wallace recorded 16 points and both center Nate Bassett and guard Jeff Grauzer each chipped in 10 points.
