Rehmann Leads Lakers Past SVSU 73-62

Allendale, Mich. - Senior Laurie Rehmann scored 23 points on 8 of 10 shooting to lead #7 Grand Valley State to a 73-62 victory over Saginaw Valley State on Saturday at University Center. GVSU built a 35-24 lead at halftime and led by as many as 23 in the second half as they cruised to an easy GLIAC win. The Lakers, ranked #1 in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional poll, improve to 17-2 overall and 8-2 in conference action.

SVSU started the game with the hot hand and led by six after six minutes of action. The Lakers responded with a 13-2 run to take a 27-18 lead and never trailed the rest of the game. GVSU shot 47% from the field and posted 10 steals while only committing 13 turnovers.

Rehmann's 23 points were a season high for the senior and was the second highest total by a Lakers this season. Rehmann was hot only 80% from the field but also hit on 4 of 6 from behind the arc and pulled down seven rebounds. Janine Guastella tallied 12 points while Julie Zeeff recorded 11 points and 7 assists.

GVSU returns to Allendale for a four-game homestand that starts on Thursday, Jan. 30, against Northern Michigan at 6:00 pm.
