GVSU Drops 70-59 Decision At Lake Superior State

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Grand Valley State dropped a 70-59 decision at GLIAC North leading Lake Superior State (14-3, 8-1) Thursday (Jan. 23) night. GVSU, ranked seventh in the latest WBCA national poll and first in the NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional ranakings, falls to 16-2 overall and 7-2 in GLIAC action.

Lake Superior State jumped out to a 28-13 lead midway through the first half and led 34-23 after 20 minutes of action. GVSU pulled to within two points at the 12 minute mark of the second half, but LSSU hit a three-pointer to push the lead back to five. GVSU was unable to pull any closer to the Soo Lakers, despite making a couple of runs in the closing minutes of action. LSSU hit its free throws in the closing minutes to secure the win.

Diana Voikos, Laurie Rehmann and Julie Zeeff each scored 13 points for Grand Valley State, while Cori Jewett chipped in eight in the scoring column.

Grand Valley State will be at Saginaw Valley State Saturday (Jan. 25) for a 1 p.m. tipoff versus the Cardinals.
