Lakers Fall To Ferris State

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State dropped an 81-57 decision to West Michigan rival Ferris State Saturday (Jan. 18) night at the GVSU Arena. Grand Valley State falls to 8-8 overall and 3-5 in GLIAC action, while Ferris State improves to 7-9 and 3-5.

Ferris State jumped out to a 38-21 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. GVSU built a 10-5 lead, but FSU outscored the Lakers 33-11 over the final 15:42 of the first half. The Lakers scored their first basket of the second half at the 10:32 mark when Eric Voisin hit a three-pointer. GVSU scored 26 points over the final 3:42 of the game, including 14 by Al Mans and 10 by Jerry Wallace.

Mans hit 7-of-9 three-pointers en route to career-high 23 points. Wallace was the only other Laker to reach double figures with 10 points. Corey Epps led FSU with 17 points, while Dennis Springs added 16 points. Ferris State held a 46-30 advantage on the boards.

Grand Valley State will return to action Thursday (Jan. 23) at Lake Superior State. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
