Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State suffered its first loss of the 2002 season as Southern Indiana scored the only goal of the game in the first overtime period to earn a 1-0 victory. The Lakers', who are off to their best start in school history and ranked #14 in the country, drop to 4-1 on the season.

GVSU recorded 16 shots, including 12 shots on goal, but could not get a ball past USI goalkeeper Aude de La Salle. The Laker defense held USI to only three shots on goal but allowed the game winning goal 6:56 into the first overtime.

The Lakers next game is at home against the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 15.
