Grand Valley State stretched its winning streak to 11 with a 3-0 (30-14, 30-11, 30-23) victory over Saginaw Valley State on Friday night in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. Senior Chara Fehsenfeld led the Lakers in both kills with 10 and digs with 9. The Lakers, #5 in the AVCA Top 25, improve to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in GLIAC play.
The Lakers opened up the match with a .481 attack percentage and 18 kills in game one, and ended up with 49 kills in the match. GVSU also recorded 11 blocks and 13 service aces as a team. Grand Valley has now won 34 straight regular season matches in the friendly confines of the Fieldhouse Arena.
Freshman Tracy Kirk also tallied 10 kills for GVSU and posted a .529 attack percentage. Senior Carly Miller recorded 7 kills on 8 attacks in one game of action. Nicole Bayle recorded a career high 8 aces, with 38 assists, 5 digs, and four blocks.
