Grand Valley State kept the offense rolling on Saturday as they scored two goals in the first 17 minutes and finished with a 3-0 victory at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Freshman Mirela Tutundzic scored her eighth goal of the season and has notched a goal in all seven games the Lakers have scored in this season. Megan Laudenslager and Jeanna Falduto both added a goal and an assist. The Lakers improve to 6-2 on the year.
Laudenslager, a senior and last season's top goal scorer, started the scoring for GVSU with a goal only 8:45 into the game. Falduto picked up the assist. Tutundzic added the next goal less than eight minutes later off an assist from Laudenslager. The two teams remained scoreless until Falduto added the last goal of the game with 28 minutes left in the game. Trisha Snow tallied the assist.
Melissa Henson made three saves in goal and earned her second straight shutout and third of the season to improve to 5-2 on the year.
With Falduto and Laudenslager recording their first goals of the season in the game, their have now been 11 different player to score a goal for GVSU in the first eight games of the season.
Grand Valley will host Davis and Elkins College from West Virginia in the Lakers next contest on September 28, at 3:00 pm on the GVSU Soccer Field.
