Findlay, Ohio - Junior center Julie Zeeff hit the game-winning shot with 13 seconds left as Grand Valley State claimed a 63-62 season-opening win over sixth-ranked Northern Kentucky Friday night in the second game of the Findlay Tipoff Tournament. GVSU will play Spring Arbor in the championship game Saturday night.

Zeeff led GVSU with 22 points and six rebounds and five blocked shots. Senior guard Laurie Rehmann chipped in 12 points and five assists. Junior Cori Jewett and sophomore Janine Guastella each added eight for the Lakers. First-year head coach Dawn Plitzuweit recorded her first collegiate coaching victory.
