Grand Valley State earned their 13th straight victory with a 30-24, 30-17, 31-29 sweep of Ashland on Thursday night in the GVSU Fieldhouse. Sabrina Bird led the way for the Lakers with 14 kills, a .565 attack percentage and 7 blocks. It was the 35th straight home win for GVSU in regular season contests who is ranked #5 in the country. Grand Valley improves to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in conference action.
The Lakers recorded 53 kills with a .303 attack percentage and 12 blocks. Senior All-American candidate added 13 kills and Elisa Joris tallied 10 kills. Chara Fehsenfeld posted a game high 14 digs, while Nicole Bayle recorded 40 assists and seven kills.
The #5 Lakers host #19 Findlay on Friday night at 7:00 pm in a battle for first place in the Great Lakes Regional rankings.
