Grand Valley State earned its seventh straight win on Sunday as they defeated Lake Superior State 30-20, 30-26, 30-20 in the GVSU Fieldhouse. It was also the fifth straight sweep for the Lakers as they have won 16 consecutive games. Carly Miller tallied her 2,000th kill for her career as she tallied 15 kills in the match to lead the Lakers. Miller is the 18th player in NCAA DII history to reach the mark. The Lakers, ranked #6 in the AVCA Top 25 and first in the NCAA Great Lakes Region, improve to 23-2 overall and 14-1 in the conference.
Miller broke GVSU's career kills record vs. Michigan Tech on Saturday and posted double digit kills for the 20th time this season. Carly also posted a .400 attack percentage and 10 digs in the match. Sabrina Bird recorded 14 kills and five blocks. GVSU recorded 10 blocks in the match and as a team have posted 10 or more blocks in 10 straight matches.
GVSU will host Ferris State on Friday (Nov. 1) at 7:00 pm in a battle for first place in the GLIAC North.
