Grand Valley State cruised to its 20th win of the season with a 30-15, 30-23, 30-26 sweep of Hillsdale on Saturday. GVSU hit .416 for the match with seven players recording three or more kills and held Hillsdale to a .052 attack percentage. The Lakers improve to 20-2 on the season and 11-1 in GLIAC play. It is the fifth straight year GVSU has posted 20 or more wins.
The Lakers were led by Elisa Joris who recorded six kills in seven attacks and also added five blocks. Carly Miller tallied eight kills, while Chara Fehsenfeld and Nicole Bayle recorded six kills apiece. Katie Horvath led the defense with 16 digs.
GVSU will host three GLIAC matches next weekend as the U.P. teams travel to Allendale. The Lakers open on Friday with Northern Michigan at 7:00 pm with Michigan Tech on Saturday at 4:00 pm and Lake Superior State on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
