GLIAC Softball Tournament Preview

Due to expected inclement weather in Findlay, Ohio during Friday's (May 5) original opening round, the GLIAC Softball Tournament will be pushed back a day and the format will change from double elimination to a single elimination format. The tournament matchups will stay the same for the opening round, advancing teams are scheduled to play twice on Saturday, and Sunday's championship game will be a best-of-three series.

Top-seeded Grand Valley State - the 2017 GLIAC regular season champions - was originally scheduled to face #8 seed Findlay at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (May 5). However, the weather has forced a new schedule and pushed the Lakers-Oilers contest to Saturday afternoon at the Marathon Diamonds Complex in Findlay, Ohio.

Here is the new schedule for the 2017 GLIAC Softball Tournament:

Saturday, May 6
Game 1 - 2:00 p.m.: #1 Grand Valley State (31-15, 17-5 GLIAC) vs. #8 Findlay (20-23, 10-12 GLIAC)

Game 2 - 2:00 p.m.: #4 Ohio Dominican (27-21, 14-8 GLIAC) vs. #5 Ashland (28-21, 13-9 GLIAC)
 
Game 3 - 4:00 p.m.: #3 Saginaw Valley State (31-14, 14-8 GLIAC) vs. #6 Hillsdale (25-22, 13-9 GLIAC)
 
Game 4 - 4:00 p.m.: #2 Wayne State (36-12, 15-7 GLIAC) vs. #7 Ferris State (18-22, 11-11 GLIAC)

Game 5 - 6:00 p.m.: Game 1 Winner vs. Game 2 Winner

Game 6 - 6:00 p.m.: Game 3 Winner vs. Game 4 Winner

Sunday, May 7
Game 7 - 10:00 a.m.: Game 5 Winner vs. Game 6 Winner

Game 8 - 12:00 p.m.: Same teams as above

Game 9 - 2:00 p.m.: 'If necessary' game

There will be a minimum of 30 minutes between games when one or both teams have to play back-to-back games during the tournament.
