ALLENDALE, Mich.-- The Grand Valley State men's golf team climbed as high as second place in the team standings at the NCAA Midwest Super Regional during the second round of play on Tuesday before slipping to seventh place in the nineteen team field. The Lakers shot a 301 overall score in the second round, bringing their two day total to 596 (+26). Central Missouri leads the tournament after shooting a 294 in both rounds to compile a 588 score.Â
Bellarmine, who began the day tied with Central Missouri for the third place spot, moved up to second after finishing with a 589, followed by Southeast Oklahoma State (591), Tiffin (592) and Washburn (593) to round out the top five. Aside from that, Lewis (594) stands two strokes ahead of GVSU in fifth place.Â
Alex Nannetti once again led the Lakers with a team-low score of 76, and has a 147 score through two rounds. Teamate
Alex Scott carded a 72 in the second round to move up 31 spots in the individual rankings to end tied for 21st with a two day score of 148.
Chris Beltzer followed that effort with a 76 second round score, and stands at 150 through two rounds, while teammate
Domenic Mancinelli carded a 77 to finished with a 151 through two days of play. Rounding out the Laker lineup was
Bryce Messner, who sits at 157 through two rounds after shooting an 80 int he second round.Â
