The Lakers bested twelve other GLIAC teams thanks to four Top 10 individual finishers.Â
"This was a great team win, our depth is what lead us to this victory", said GVSU head coach
Gary Bissell. "Moving forward we need to clean up the little mistakes to prepare us for our regional next weekend."
Depth was indeed the difference maker for the Lakers, as
Domenic Mancinelli,
Bryce Messner,
Alex Nannetti and
Alex Scott all recorded top ten finishes in the individual leaderboard. Nannetti was fourth overall with a 148 (+5) score, while Messner and Mancinelli tied for fifth with a 149 (+5). Messner's stellar second round of 68 strokes allowed him to jump 30 spots in the individual leaderboard on the second day, the furthest jump by any golfer in the event.Â
Alex Scott tied for eighth in the individual leaderboard with a 151 (+7), while
Mitchell White garnered a 165 (+21) to round out the scoring for the Lakers.Â
Chris Beltzer of GVSU shot a 160 (+16) while competing as an individual at the event.Â
