Dan Mumbrue (Oxford, Mich.) began the long line of tradition rich divers at Grand Valley State. Mumbrue was a four-year letterwinner for the Lakers from 1991-1994. Mumbrue collected eight all-american awards during his tenure with the Lakers. He was a three-time all-american on both the one and three-meter diving boards, qualifying for the NCAA Championships as a sophomore, junior and senior. Dan ranks first in Laker annals on the one-meter board for six dives with a score of 303.90, while his score of 315.85 for six dives on the three-meter board is also tops in Laker men’s diving history. Mumbrue ranks second on both the one and three-meter boards in the Laker record books. He tallied a score of 463.50 on the one-meter board and 494.10 on the three-meter. Dan was a two-time GLIAC All-Academic honoree, and a three-time Academic All-Amercian as selected by the College Swim Coaches Association (1992-94). In addition, Dan claimed the GLIAC Championship on the three-meter board in 1993.
